Marisa Tomei Discovers a Famous Cousin on “Finding Your Roots”

Marisa Tomei was beyond excited to find out she has a famous cousin and it’s someone she has even co-starred in a movie with!
On a recent episode of PBS’s Finding Your Roots, Tomei discovered she’s actually related to Julianne Moore, her co-star in Crazy, Stupid, Love.
After telling Tomei the exciting news, Finding Your Roots host, Henry Louis Gates Jr., revealed the stars “share an identical stretch of DNA along their X chromosome.”
“Ironically, Julianne has no Italian ancestors that we know of. And every ancestor we could name on Marisa’s tree has roots in Italy,” Finding Your Roots revealed. “A powerful demonstration of how DNA can bridge the divide that appears to exist between people of diverse origins.”
