How to Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer and Wipes

With hand sanitizer and disinfecting wipes flying off store shelves amid coronavirus fears, many people are wondering if they can make their own?
The simple answer is “yes” – as long as you have either isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol, or ethyl alcohol on hand.
According to Business Insider, as long as it has 60 percent alcohol you can rub the liquid onto your hands, let them air dry, and you will have effectively sanitized them.

Alcohol can be drying to the skin, so experts suggest following up with a moisturizer, or making your own version of hand sanitizer with aloe vera gel.
Business Insider reports Oregon Live recommends making your own sanitizer by mixing ⅔ cups of 91% isopropyl alcohol with ⅓ cups of aloe vera. You can also add 8 to 10 drops of an essential oil to make the sanitizer smell better.
It’s also easy to make your own disinfecting wipes!
Once again you will need isopropyl, or ethyl alcohol. Simply take the alcohol, dab it on a paper towel or tissue and wipe down whatever surface you would like to clean.
This works especially well for cell phones, which we are touching throughout the day.
