Oprah Winfrey Shares Seven Books That Have “Helped See Me Through”

With the coronavirus pandemic, upcoming election and rising unemployment rates, so many Americans are feeling anxious and uncertain about what the future holds, so for her monthly book club pick Oprah Winfrey is focusing on works that help us during challenging times.
Her new list in partnership with Apple, comprises seven books Winfrey calls “The Books That See Me Through” – books she cherishes for “their ability to comfort, inspire, and enlighten me.”
“I know it’s hard to focus on anything right now because we’re so distracted by the roar of the news and steady hum of our own anxiety,” Oprah told fans on Instagram. “So for the next six weeks over at @oprahsbookclub, I’ll be spotlighting a curated list of seven books I cherish for their ability to comfort, inspire, and enlighten me.”
“It’s a mix of fiction, poetry, non-fiction and spirituality, books I know and trust and revisit time and again,” Oprah revealed, telling fans over the next six weeks she will be spotlighting each book.
Her list comprises of:
1. “Song of Solomon” by Toni Morrison 2. “The Power of Now” by Eckhart Tolle 3. “Between the World and Me” by Ta-Nehisi Coates 4. “The Soul of America: The Battle For Our Better Angels” by Jon Meacham 5. “When the Light of the World Was Subdued, Our Songs Came Through: A Norton Anthology of Native Nations Poetry 6. “The Fire Next Time” by James Baldwin 7. Mary Oliver’s “Devotions”
