West Virginia Will Pay Remote Workers $12,000 to Move There

The beautiful state of West Virginia is hoping its plethora of outdoor activities will encourage remote workers to relocate there – and they are adding a financial incentive to do so!
According to Travel+Leisure, the Mountain State has just released a new initiative called Ascend WV, which will pay remote workers $12,000 and give them a year’s worth of outdoor recreation if they relocate to West Virginia.

Currently, the program is accepting applicants who will commit to living in Morgantown, but Travel+Leisure reports later cities will include Lewisburg and Shepherdstown.
According to Travel+Leisure, Ascend WV hopes the state’s gorgeous scenery, outdoor adventure activities, and low cost of living will encourage remote workers to make the move.
Those accepted by Ascend WV will receive $12,000 in cash with no strings attached, one year of free outdoor recreation on public lands, access to free co-working space in West Virginia’s mountain towns, free access to outdoor gear rentals, and the ability to earn remote work certifications through West Virginia University, Travel+Leisure reports.
