ABC Cancels Last Man Standing in Shock Move

Despite strong ratings, ABC network has cancelled Tim Allen’s conservative sit-com show Last Man Standing. The show, which first premiered in 2011, focused on Allen’s character of Mike Baxter – a conservative right-wing christian – and his family. In its sixth – and now final – season Last Man Standing garners around 6.4 million viewers weekly for its 8pm Friday time-slot and has only been down 5 percent compared with other renewed shows that are down 20 – 30% year to year. According to Deadline, who first broke the story, Disney owned ABC is citing “cost of production, as well as Allen’s salary, as the reason for the cancellation.”
