Carnival season is in full swing with parades in New Orleans leading up to Mardi Gras on Feb. 21.
The Mardi Gras season in New Orleans begins on Twelfth Night, Jan. 6, and culminates in the final celebration on Shrove Tuesday, the day before Ash Wednesday, which begins the Lent fasting period until Easter.
On Thursday night, the all-women Krewe of Muses paraded along the St. Charles Avenue route, with its signature satirical floats and dance troupes.
A video shared by Twitter user @bebe11f1998 shows the iconic float in the shape of a high heel shoe, with Muses members riding inside.
The Krewe of Muses was the first all-female krewe to parade at night in uptown New Orleans, the organization says on its website. The krewe has grown to more than 1,400 members since 2001.
