A lawsuit has been filed against retail giant, Amazon, accusing the company of trademark infringement over the number of counterfeit products being sold through its website.
The lawsuit, brought about by the company that makes the Snuggie blanket and other “As Seen on TV” products alleges, “Amazon has taken no action to prevent the sale of such counterfeit products despite having the knowledge, opportunity and means to do so.”
The lawsuit claims companies from China and Japan – among others – are selling counterfeit products at low prices on the Amazon website, thus duping Amazon customers into believing they are purchasing authentic items.
The plaintiffs in the lawsuit are seeking unspecified amounts for punitive damages and lost profits.
