Christina Applegate’s Operation to Prevent Another Cancer Diagnosis

Actress Christina Applegate revealed on the Today show she has changed the way she lives her life in order to prevent another cancer diagnosis – and that includes having her ovaries and fallopian tubes removed.

The 45-year-old who rose to fame playing ditzy blonde Kelly Bundy on Married With Children was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2008. She underwent a double mastectomy and changed the way she lives her life to try and stay as healthy as possible. Christina revealed to Today, “Two weeks ago I had my ovaries and tubes removed. My cousin passed away from ovarian cancer in 2008. I could prevent that. That’s how I’ve take control of everything. It’s a relief.”
The mother of six-year-old daughter Sadie, also revealed she has changed her diet, telling Today she stays away from foods filled with chemicals and eats 100 percent organic.
“Organic is expensive,” Christina revealed. “I get that. I don’t want to alienate anyone who can’t pay for that. But maybe skip your morning latte and get organic vegetables for the week…We grow our own vegetables. That’s not an option for everyone, but just get a tomato plant!”
Christina also makes an effort to reduce stress in her life, something she calls a “big killer.”
“I used to be a stressed out person,” Applegate told Today. “I’m not anymore…I keep my life really simple. I’m very fortunate right now to have that freedom not to work…I love my life right now. I’ve been very fortunate to be able to take a minute and it’s been wonderful.”
