Disney will close at least 60 brick-and-mortar stores across the country as they refocus on e-commerce.
According to
Reuters, the company said in a statement they will be revamping its digital platforms to focus on eCommerce and will also be evaluating reducing the number of brick and mortar stores it operates in Europe.
“While consumer behavior has shifted toward online shopping, the global pandemic has changed what consumers expect from a retailer,” Stephanie Young, president of Disney’s consumer products, games and publishing said in a statement reported by
Reuters.
“We now plan to create a more flexible, interconnected eCommerce experience that gives consumers easy access to unique, high-quality products across all our franchises,” Young said.
Brick and mortar Disney stores in Japan and China will not be affected by the closures.
