Fit and Fab 40’s! How One Mom Changed Her Routine to Create Her Best Body Yet
Published

Australian mom-of-two Belinda Norton has always been active. As a full time phys ed teacher she routinely ran marathons, competed in triathlons and worked out religiously – yet Norton claims that now, in her 40’s, she is fitter, more energized and healthier than she ever was in her super-active 20’s.
As an ex-athlete Norton says she was “working her body too hard” and the effects were showing. But after giving birth, the dramatic changes in her body caused her to reevaluate how and when she exercised and the results have been amazing.A post shared by Belinda Norton➕blivewear.com (@belinda.n.x) on
“Becoming a mum changed my body dramatically,” Norton writes on her blog blivewear.com. “It changed my mindset, it changed my timeframes and it changed my adaptation to food and fitness…My body became slow, I held a circle of fat around my belly button…my hips became wider…I was tired.”A post shared by Belinda Norton➕blivewear.com (@belinda.n.x) on
Norton knew she wanted to get back in shape, but realised she had to approach her fitness routine differently than before kids.A post shared by Belinda Norton➕blivewear.com (@belinda.n.x) on
Speaking to the Daily Mail’s FEMAIL, Norton revealed that overdoing cardio wasn’t going to “create a great body shape” and “instead, it was all about light cardio training, repetitive weight training in target areas and speed training as well as a balanced diet.”
Norton revealed women need to do cardio in the morning and not in the evening and encourages moms to work out as as family with the kids.
The busy mom told the Daily Mail she has followed this fitness routine for the past five years, working out just 45 minutes to an hour each day.A post shared by Belinda Norton➕blivewear.com (@belinda.n.x) on
“I am rarely sick and have ridiculous amounts of happy energy to help others seek their best. I do not count calories or worry about food ever,” Norton revealed. “I eat six decent sized meals a day…eat less processed foods and avoid the calorie or macro rating as it’s a ridiculous way to live.”
Norton has cut out red meat sugar and dairy from her diet, and instead eats lots of fruits, veggies, chicken, fish and legumes. She also drinks a full glass of water before going to bed and when she wakes up in the morning.A post shared by Belinda Norton➕blivewear.com (@belinda.n.x) on
Norton told the Daily Mail her fitness routine focuses on less cardio, instead she prefers to use light speed weights, shorter runs and swimming.
