Game of Thrones fans who have been waiting patiently for news as to when the long awaited final season will premiere can now look forward to April 2019. News of the premiere date was revealed in a promotional video by HBO and although no exact date was given, the video did tease a dramatic finale recapping the journey Game of Thrones heroes and villains have taken to the impending conclusion.
Filming for season eight began in October 2017 with the first episode opening at Winterfell as Daenerys and her army prepare for the inevitable invasion of the Army of the Dead, according to Entertainment Weekly. “It’s an incredibly emotional, haunting, bittersweet final season, and I think it honors very much what George R.R. Martin set out to do, which is flipping this kind of story on its head,” co-executive producer Bryan Cogman told Entertainment Weekly.
