Gucci Announces Ban on Fur by 2018

Italian fashion house Gucci has announced they will be fur-free by the time their Spring 2018 collection rolls around.

Gucci’s president and CEO Marco Bizzarri made the announcement during 2017 Kering Talk at the London College of Fashion.
“Being socially responsible is one of Gucci’s core values and we will continue to strive to do better for the environment and animals,” Bizzarri said. “Gucci is excited to take this next step and hopes it will help inspire innovation and raise awareness, changing the luxury fashion industry for the better.”
During the talk, Bizzarri thanked the Fur-Free Alliance and the Humane Society International for helping the fashion house reach their decision.

Gucci’s promise to ban the use of fur has garnered praise from animal rights advocacy group PETA and organizations.
According to the Associated Press all of Gucci’s remaining fur items will be sold off at auction with proceeds going to benefit Italian animal rights group LAV and the Humane Society.
