Hayden Panettiere is seeking treatment for Postpartum Depression, according the actress’s rep. The 26-year-old is “voluntarily seeking professional help at a treatment center as she is currently battling postpartum depression,” adding “she asks that the media respect her privacy during this time.” Source: Michael Sterling Eaton
Panettiere and her fiancé Wladimir Klitschko welcomed a daughter named Kaya in December 2014. A source close to the Nashville star told E! News, “Hayden had been suffering for a long time and she just wants to get better for her family.” Source: Live! With Kelly and Michael
The actress talked candidly about her struggle during an interview on Live! With Kelly and Michael. Panettiere’s character on the series Nashville was going though a similar situation on screen. Panettiere admitted, “I can very much relate.”
She told the talk-show hosts, “It’s something a lot of women experience. When you are told about postpartum depression you think it’s ‘I feel negative feelings towards my child; I want to injure or hurt my child.’ I’ve never, ever had those feelings. Some women do.”
She added, “But you don’t realize how broad of a spectrum you can really experience that on. It’s something that needs to be talked about. Women need to know that they’re not alone, and that it does heal.”
