Trivia game show Jeopardy! is on hiatus as longtime host, Alex Trebek, recovers from an unexpected brain surgery. Jeopardy! posted a video on its website to let fans know Trebek was admitted to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in mid December after suffering complications from a fall he sustained in October.
Alex told fans he was diagnosed with a subdural hematoma and underwent surgery to remove a blood clot on his brain, revealing, “Surgery was performed, after two days in the hospital I came home to start recovery. The prognosis is excellent and I expect to be back in the studio taping more ‘Jeopardy!’ programs very, very soon.”
Trebek, who has hosted the hit nightly show since 1984 thanked fans for their concern. According to Variety the show is normally taped months in advance so viewers shouldn’t see much change, except for the postponement of the College Championship in April.
