Fuller House star Lori Loughlin has been sentenced to two months in federal prison for her role in the college admissions scandal. Loughlin’s husband, Mossimo Gianulli, received a sentence of five months.
The couple admitted to paying $500,000 to get their daughters into the University of Southern California as members of the rowing team, even though neither daughter participated in the sport.
Along with serving two months in federal prison, Loughlin will also have to pay a fine of $150,000, complete 100 hours of community service and serve two years of supervised release. Giannulli will also serve two years of supervised release, pay a fine of $250,000, and complete 250 hours of community service.
“I went along with a plan to give my daughters an unfair advantage in the college admissions process,” CNN reports Loughlin as saying during her virtual sentencing hearing. “In doing so I ignored my intuition and allowed myself to be swayed from my moral compass. I thought I was acting out of love for my children. But in reality, it only undermined and diminished my daughters’ abilities and accomplishments.”
“While I wish I could go back and do things differently, I can only take responsibility and move forward,” she said. “I am truly, profoundly and deeply sorry. I’m ready to face the consequences and make amends.”
