Mark Wahlberg knows a thing or two about fitness. The Instant Family star is famous for his pre-sunrise workout sessions and intense daily training but after the stress of 2020, Wahlberg is looking to shake things up a bit and sharing his top fitness tips along the way!
The 49-year-old spoke with Us Weekly about all things fitness, telling the mag he’s looking to “challenge himself” for the new year. For those of us just starting on an exercise regime, Wahlberg says it’s crucial to make “fitness a habit.”
“Every journey starts with that first step and if you have been slacking off or have never focused on your health or working out, you just have to throw yourself into it and get started!” he told Us Weekly. “Starting small is key so you wake up the next day feeling tired and good about yourself, not crazy sore! A little sore is OK, but you don’t want to give yourself any excuses in the beginning to not keep on-track.”
“Stop making excuses and waiting for the perfect month or day to start, today is the perfect day. … You will be glad you started!” Wahlberg says. “Look in the mirror, snap some pictures, record your measurements, set goals in writing, and start a fitness log. Using a fitness tracking device and sharing your goals with friends or family are also proven ways to help you stay on track.”
Wahlberg also shared some of his nutrition tips with Us Weekly, telling the mag he has transitioned to a mostly plant-based diet over the past year and supplements with his ‘Performance Inspired’ plant-based protein. However, Wahlberg says there is nothing wrong with a little cheat day here and there as long as you settle back into your routine.
“Join and follow fitness groups on social media and post up those selfies, diet tips and workouts!” Wahlberg told Us Weekly. “The fitness community is so engaged and supportive and you will stay inspired seeing others making progress! It also helps inspire others to see your fitness journey and that always feels great.”
“Sharing your goals makes you more likely to keep reaching for them, so don’t be afraid to post about your healthy habits and ambitions on social media and tell your friends and family, you may even inspire them or pick up a workout buddy!” Wahlberg added.
