We all know the importance of eating a well-balanced, healthy diet, but a new major study has looked at the correlation between foods that cause inflammation throughout the body and an increased risk of breast cancer.
According to
Eat This, Not That!, the study carried out by the Catalan Institute of Oncology in Spain, found foods that cause inflammation throughout the body can cause a 12 percent increase in breast cancer risk.
The study followed over 318,000 women for 14 years and found that women consuming more pro-inflammatory diets as measured by an inflammatory score of the diet (ISD) are at increased risk for breast cancer, especially premenopausal women.
Eat This, Not That! reports the following pro-inflammatory foods that may cause an increased risk of breast cancer include:
Sugars, including high fructose corn syrup
Refined carbohydrates
Fried foods
Processed meats such as hot dogs and sausage
Saturated fats
