Pop star Rihanna is to have the street she grew up on in Barbados named after her.

Rihanna was discovered in Barbados in 2003, where she grew up in a home on Westbury New Road in the capital of Bridgetown.

The Ministry of Tourism has announced they will rename the road Rihanna Drive in honor of their local superstar and the renaming will take place on November 30, which is Barbados’ Independence Day.
Rihanna will join Barbados’ Prime Minister, Freundel Stuart for the two-hour ceremony.
A statement from the Ministry of Tourism read, “The Government of Barbados will on Independence Day…officially change the name of Westbury New Road located in St. Michael to Rihanna Drive in honor of Barbadian superstar Ms. Robin Rihanna Fenty who grew up in Westbury New Road.”
