Taylor Swift set to go to trial in copyright lawsuit

According to Rolling Stone, the copyright dispute involving Taylor Swift’s song Shake It Off is now officially scheduled to go to trial. Swift’s legal team made one more attempt in August to have the lawsuit, which was filed by the authors of the 2000 song Playas Gon’ Play by the girl group 3LW, dismissed. The case argues that the lyrics playas, they going to play and haters, they going to hate in that song are similar to those in Shake It Off. In addition to Swift’s claim that she was unaware of the song prior to the lawsuit, Swift’s legal team has maintained that the song’s authors, Sean Hall and Nathan Butler, did not create the lines.
