Taylor Swift is facing a lawsuit over her “Shake It Off” song.
According to TMZ, the duo who penned 3LW’s 2001 hit “Playas Gon’ Play” are suing Taylor for 20% of her 2014 hit “Shake It Off.”
Songwriters Nathan Butler and Sean Hall, who have also written songs for Maroon 5 and the Backstreet Boys allege Taylor’s lyrics in the song are eerily similar to their “Playas Gon’ Play” lyrics of “The playas gon’ play/Them haters gonna hate.”
A rep for Swift calls the suit a “ridiculous claim” calling it “nothing more than a money grab.”
“The law is simple and clear,” Swift’s rep remarked. “They do not have a case.”
