But thanks to festival-goers around the world the fanny pack is back! Updated, trendier and more sylph-like, it makes you wonder how we ever let these convenient little pouches disappear from the wardrobe.
Fortunately, you no longer have to call them by the slightly embarrassing ‘fanny pack’ name. Many come under the updated ‘hip pack’ or ‘waist back’ or ‘side pack’ label – and gone is the bulky, garish-colored fanny pack of yore.
Today’s fanny pack trend embraces a more minimal, body conforming look without losing the handy, secure pockets festival and concert-goers have fallen in love with. These totally hands free little gems also come in a multitude of fabrics – from boho-chic crochet and leather to beach friendly nylon and canvas. Even luxury designers Chanel and Fendi have embraced the return of the fanny pack, with their glam takes on these easy to travel with belt-bags.
And festival fanatics aren’t the only ones to embrace the return of the fanny pack. Celebs such as Kourtney Kardashian, Kate Hudson, Fergie, Rihanna and Kylie Jenner have all been spotted sporting the new updated fanny pack trend.
