Tiger Woods is speaking out for the first time following his horrific car accident.
Sending out a tweet of thanks from his hospital bed, the golf champ – who was rushed to the ER following a roll-over crash in California – thanked his fellow golfers for “helping me get through this tough time.”
Over the weekend, the 45-year-old’s peers – including Rory McIlroy, Cameron Champ, Jason Day and Justin Thomas – wore a red top and black pants in tribute to Woods as they played the first WGC event of 2021 at The Concession. “It is hard to explain how touching today was when I turned on the tv and saw all the red shirts,” Woods, who underwent emergency surgery on his legs following the one-car crash, tweeted. “To every golfer and every fan, you are truly helping me get through this tough time.” Late last week a spokesperson for Woods confirmed the golfer had been moved to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and received follow-up procedures on his injuries.
“The procedures were successful, and he is now recovering and in good spirits,” Tiger’s team shared with fans on Twitter.
