DON’T
Wearing a cleavage-bearing top might make you feel sexy and confident, but could give off the wrong impression. You want to project confidence without drawing too much attention to your “assets.” He may feel more engaged with your chest than the conversation.
DO
Do wear an outfit that doesn’t give off too much sex appeal. Opt for something that shows off just enough skin. For example, if you’re showing skin in a crop top, pair it with pants or a long skirt to provide balance.
DON’T
Steer clear of sky-high stilettos. They may make your legs look fab, but if the opportunity arises to go on an after-dinner stroll, you may be in trouble. Stick with a wedge or lower heel that you can be comfortable in.
DO
Depending on the date location, wear what’s appropriate. If your first date is at the beach or doing something outdoorsy, the last thing you want to do is show up in fancy 4-inch heels.
DON’T
Avoid big floppy hats or hats that sit low on your face. If you’re meeting someone for the first time, you want to shoot for great face-to-face conversation. Body language is huge when it comes to the first date. If your date feels like your hiding behind an oversized hat, it could give off the wrong vibe.
DO
Wear something that shows your face and your smile.
DON’T
Don’t wear all black. If you are going to a fancy dinner, the little black dress is ok, but add a pop of color. Remember to dress appropriate to the date location and setting.
DO
Wear colors that are flattering to you and your skin tone.
DON’T
Avoid too much makeup. If your applying a smoky eye for your dinner date, pair it with a nude or neutral lip. If you want a bright bold red lip, opt for more neutral tones for the eye.
DO
Again, tailor your look to your date location and time of day. For day dates, wear more neutral tones and a hint of bronzer to add a glow.
