White Castle is celebrating the 20th anniversary of the film Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle with digital movie deals, collectibles and personalized merch.
The fast-food burger chain was the first to open its locations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, becoming a late-night oasis known as Night Castle, and the ultimate destination for Harold and Kumar.
The film follows Harold (John Cho) and Kumar (Kal Penn) on an epic quest to White Castle, on which they have to overcome bullies, a trip to jail, and other obstacles to satisfy their craving. Cho, Penn, screenwriters John Hurwitz and Hayden Schlossberg, and late director Danny Leiner were all inducted into the White Castle Cravers Hall of Fame in 2004.
Harold and Kumar’s hijinks leading to their epic journey represents the heroes’ quest, and their passion and dedication to the Crave represents the same love that generations of White Castle fans have shown, Jamie Richardson, vice president at White Castle, said in a statement. No matter what calls you to savor the flavor of your favorite Slider, whether at a Castle or in your kitchen, that bite into a 100% beef patty steam-grilled on a bed of onions nestled between two perfectly baked buns is the crave satisfaction you deserve.
Beginning April 20, fans who purchase a Crave Clutch (any 20 Sliders) in White Castle locations, through the app, or by delivery between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. will receive a promotional code for a Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle digital movie, to be redeemed on Movies Anywhere through Aug. 31.
Retail shoppers who purchase two of any size package of White Castle Sliders on the same receipt can upload the receipt to redeem a Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle digital movie from Fandango at Home through Dec. 31.
We have always embraced being the place to gather after a fun night on the town or enjoying a sleeve or two of Sliders from the freezer after getting home from work, said Richardson. We were the original late-night hot spot, and with our variety of affordable restaurant and grocery offerings, we welcome customers to follow their Crave whenever it calls.
Restaurants will also have three Kumar-themed collectible cups while supplies last. For personalized merch, fans can visit whitecastle.nadelstore.com to purchase a personalized Harold and Kumar t-shirt.
