White Castle Sliders Recalled Over Listeria Fears

White Castle has recalled several varieties of their grocery store frozen hamburger sliders over listeria fears.
The company announced a voluntary recall after a routine test found listeria present in one of the batches of sandwiches from a specific facility.
Although no confirmed illnesses have been reported, White Castle voluntary recalled certain products with best by dates from August 4, 2020 through August 17, 2020.

According to an FDA release, White Castle frozen six-pack cheeseburgers, frozen six-pack hamburgers, frozen six-pack jalapeno cheeseburgers, 16-pack hamburgers, and 16-pack cheeseburgers, are involved in the recall.
“Our number one focus is the safety of our customers and our team members, and as a family owned business, we want to hold ourselves to the absolute highest standards of accountability in all aspects of our business–and especially food safety,” said White Castle Vice President Jamie Richardson.
Listeriosis is a serious infection caused by the germ Listeria monocytogenes. People usually become ill with listeriosis after eating contaminated food. The disease primarily affects pregnant women, newborns, older adults, and people with weakened immune systems.
