Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has revealed his family battled COVID-19 and is urging people to do the right thing and “wear a mask.”
The actor made the announcement in an Instagram video, where he revealed he, his wife, and their two daughters caught the virus from very close family friends, despite being “disciplined” about social distancing, etc.
Johnson revealed his two daughters only suffered minor symptoms of the virus, such as a sore throat for the first couple of days, but for the former wrestler and his wife, the coronavirus was a much different beast to battle.
“I can tell you that this has been one of the most challenging and difficult things we have ever had to endure as a family,” the 48-year-old shared in the video.
“Testing positive for Covid-19 is much different than overcoming nasty injuries, or being evicted or even being broke, which I have been more than a few times,” Johnson revealed. “We are counting our blessings right now because we’re well aware that it isn’t always the case that you get on the other end of Covid-19 stronger and healthier.”
Johnson told fans he hopes they “stay disciplined” in the fight against the coronavirus, sharing, “Boost your immune system, commit to wellness, wear your mask, protect your family, be strict about having people over your house or gatherings, stay positive, and care for your fellow human beings.”
“The Rock” also had a special message for those who have turned wearing a mask into a political agenda, saying in the video, “It baffles me that some people out there, including some politicians, will take this idea of wearing masks and make it part of a political agenda.”
“It has nothing to do with politics,” Johnson told fans. “Wear your mask. It is a fact. And it is the right thing to do.”
