Adele Takes Home Album of the Year at the 2017 Grammys

Adele’s best selling album 25 has taken home the much coveted ‘Album of the Year’ award at this year’s Grammys.
Beating out hot favorite Beyonce, who many thought would win for her album Lemonade, Adele dedicated the award to the pregnant singer, saying, “The way you make my black friends feel is empowering,” and revealed to reporters backstage, “she is my idol.”
Adele also beat Drake, Justin Bieber and Sturgill Simpson, who were all nominated for the award.

Adele also paid tribute to George Michael. After initially stopping the performance due to technical difficulties, Adele later revealed to reporters backstage why she asked the band to stop and start over revealing she wanted nothing but the best performance in honor of the late star. She told reporters, “I have been working very hard on this tribute to him every day.”

Adele’s 25 album has been the best selling album of 2016 and the second-best selling album of the millennium. The 28-year-old is now the first person to win record of the year, album of the year, and song of the year twice.
