Casio announced the release of its latest G-Shock watch, a Rangeman designed for survival settings in the harshest natural environments.
The new G-Shock GPR-H1000 is an addition to the Rangeman lineup, equipped with Triple Sensor that measures compass bearing, altitude/barometric pressure, and temperature. The watch also boasts an optical sensor heart rate monitor, an accelerometer for tracking activity, and GPS functionality.
The new Rangeman has a dust- and mud-resistant structure, along with classic G-Shock durability.
The first Rangeman watches were released in 2013, and were the first G-Shocks with the Triple Sensors. The 2018 Rangeman was the first G-Shock to have GPS navigation.
The features on the latest Rangeman, part of the Master of G line of G-SHOCK watches, were designed for use by rangers and other professionals operating in the harshest land environments, such as hot, rainy jungles and dense forests.
These comprehensive measurements accurately detect the wearer’s body movement, environmental changes, and more, allowing users to monitor conditions such as heart rate, blood oxygen level, and direction, even in challenging environments, Casio said in a press release. The watch equipped with measurement functions designed to support nine activities in the field.
When trekking, for instance, the watch displays heart rate, distance traveled, altitude, and speed of ascent or descent, enabling users to track their physical condition and surrounding environment to support on-the-spot decisions, the company said.
The first G-Shock launched in April 1983. The Master of G line of G-Shocks, also known as the -man line, began with 1993’s Frogman, which was the first G-Shock to be a certified diver watch. There are nearly a dozen others in the line, including the Raysman (first G-Shock with solar recharging) and the Lungman (first G-Shock with a pulse sensor).
