Target on Tuesday announced it will be launching a paid membership program, in addition to expanding the benefits of its free Target Circle loyalty program.
The new paid membership, Target Circle 360, unlimited free same-day delivery for orders over $35 in as little as an hour with no delivery fees, along with free two-day shipping, access to preferred shoppers, and access to Shipt Marketplace, which offers same-day delivery from more than 100 retailers.
Target Circle 360 will launch in April, and will cost $49 per year.
The retailer is also upgrading its existing free loyalty program, Target Circle, which was originally launched in 2019. Target Circle members can access personalized deals, members-only sales and other perks. Based on customer feedback, Target Circle deals will now be applied automatically at checkout, rather than requiring members to search for individual offers and add them manually.
The company also announced the Target Circle Card, formerly known as the Target RedCard, which will allow customers to save an extra 5% on purchases. Cardholders will also get extra time for returns, and free two-day shipping.
Target said additional benefits, experiences, and product offers will be added to Target Circle over time.
For years, Target has consistently built for the long-term, investing in the assets, capabilities and team that have differentiated our business, enabled us to deliver for guests in any environment and driven strong growth, Brian Cornell, Target chair and CEO, said in a statement. Today, with that same long-term view, we’re making strategic investments that expand on our core strengths, further elevate our guest experience and deepen our connection to both current and new guests. Most importantly, these plans provide fuel for our next era of growth.
The company is also expanding and launching its own brands this year. Target’s dealworthy brand offers 400 basic items including apparel and accessories, beauty and essentials, electronics and home, starting under $1, with most items under $10. The retailer is relaunching its up&up brand, offering new formulations and packaging for essentials and items in personal care, health, pet care, storage and more.
The new brand Gigglescape will offer plushes, books, toys and games, set to roll out this year.
