As the nation deals with a coin shortage one Chick-fil-A franchisee is offering a free entree voucher to anyone who can exchange coins for paper money.
According to USA Today, a Chick-fil-A franchise owner in Lynchburg, Virginia is running a special this Wednesday between 9 a.m. and 11 a.m.
Anyone who can exchange $10 in rolled coins for $10 in paper cash will receive a free entree voucher towards a future purchase.
“Due to the decrease in coin circulation nationwide, some restaurants may choose to offer incentives like this one to ensure they maintain enough coins to provide guests proper change, should they choose to pay with cash,” Chick-fil-A said in a statement to USA TODAY.
According to Forbes, the Federal Reserve has acknowledged the coronavirus pandemic has caused a coin circulation disruption.
“In the past few months, coin deposits from depository institutions to the Federal Reserve have declined significantly and the U.S. Mint’s production of coin also decreased due to measures put in place to protect its employees,” the Fed wrote in a statement reported by Forbes. “The Federal Reserve is working on several fronts to mitigate the effects of low coin inventories.”
