With party season in full swing and New Year’s Eve right around the corner, Dr. Oz is sharing his time-tested trick to cure a hangover. If you happen to overdo it when it comes to indulging in alcoholic beverages this time of year, this top tip straight from the doctor could help you avoid getting a hangover in the first place.
“First off, never have two [alcoholic] drinks in a way,” Dr. Oz told US Weekly. “You have a drink and then water. A drink and then water – equal amounts – so it slows you down.”
According to AOL, Dr. Oz reveals the dreaded hangover, which can include symptoms such as headaches, nausea and lethargy, is a direct result of the body being dehydrated.
“Your brain is like a walnut,” Dr. Oz shared with US Weekly. “If it dries out, it’s bouncing around that coconut skull. It hurts.”
The answer is to hydrate the body, with AOL reporting Dr. Oz recommends drinking a ¼ cup of pickle juice to help replenish the body’s electrolytes and ease hangover symptoms.
