Singer Justin Timberlake has teamed up with golf champ Tiger Woods in an effort to raise money for hurricane relief in the Bahamas.
The duo came together to create the ONE Bahamas Fund and have pledged to match dollar for dollar the first $6 million raised to make $12 million. According to CBS News, the ONE Bahamas Fund will “support a wide range of immediate recovery needs and important long-term rebuilding initiatives required in the country … including a focus on shelter (temporary and low-cost housing), living necessities (clothing, food and communication devices), educational support (scholarships, transportation costs and supplies), community (aiding in the design and development of infrastructure needs), and seed funding for Bahamian businesses.”
Royal Bank of Canada, LEXUS Luxury Collection, and Albany – a luxury resort in the Bahamas – are also participating in the fundraiser. “As a strong believer in philanthropy and teamwork, I’m excited to partner with my friends to establish the ONE Bahamas Fund in support of Hurricane Dorian relief, recovery and rebuilding efforts,” Woods shared on Twitter.
Hurricane Dorian wreaked havoc on the islands of Grand Bahama and the Abacos with at least 1,500 people unaccounted for.
