Kid Rock Brings Christmas Joy to a Tennessee Walmart Layaway

Kid Rock brought a ton of festive spirit to a Tennessee Walmart by paying off all 350 layaway accounts to the tune of $81,000. According to The Wrap, the musician called the store on Friday morning saying he wanted to pay off all of the layaway balances after being inspired by actor Tyler Perry.
Kid Rock took to Twitter last week to give kudos to Tyler Perry, who paid off layaway balances at two separate Georgia locations last week.
“@tylerperry Great Idea!” Kid Rock tweeted. “I followed your lead and paid off the layaway at my local Walmart in Nashville. Merry Christmas and God Bless You!”
“Kudos to Kid Rock for making such a gesture in our community,” Walmart manager Tom Meyer told the Tennessean, adding most items on layaway are likely Christmas gifts since the store only offers that service during the holidays. “I think that’s a pretty Nashville proud moment.”
