Major Stores Dropping Mask Requirements for Vaccinated Shoppers

Following the CDC’s revision on the use of masks for vaccinated people, several major stores across the nation are loosening their mask requirements.
According to People, Costco, Walmart, Starbucks, and Publix have all joined a growing list of businesses that will no longer require masks for vaccinated shoppers.
“As a result of the recently updated U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, Publix will no longer require fully vaccinated associates or customers to wear face coverings, unless required by a state or local order or ordinance, beginning May 15,” Publix said in a statement – a rule other stores are also rolling out not only for customers but also for their staff.
“The science is clear: If you are fully vaccinated, you are protected, and you can start doing the things that you stopped doing because of the pandemic,” the CDC announced late last week.
According to People, the CDC is still leaving the final decision on mask mandates up to state and local governments. Similarly, private businesses can also continue to require masks on their premises.
