The Voice contestant, Ryan Gallagher, has been kicked off the hit NBC show for breaking the production’s COVID-19 protocols, numerous media outlets confirm.
According to EW, Gallagher – who was on Kelly Clarkson’s team – was absent from Monday’s live playoffs with host, Carson Daly, saying at the time the opera singer had decided to “exit the competition.”
People reports it’s still not been revealed how Gallagher broke the protocols set in place by the show.
According to People, Gallagher previously told coaches his mother had been hospitalized with COVID-19, but the 32-year-old singer was quick to reassure fans a family emergency was not the reason he didn’t appear on The Voice for the live playoffs.
