Meghan Markle has confirmed her father, Thomas Markle Sr., will not attend her wedding to Prince Harry on Saturday.
The former
Suits actress issued a formal statement through Kensington Palace, writing, “Sadly, my father will not be attending our wedding. I have always cared for my father and hope he can be given the space he needs to focus on his health.”
Meghan went on to say, “I would like to thank everyone who has offered generous messages of support. Please know how much Harry and I look forward to sharing our special day with you on Saturday.”
Mr. Markle, who underwent heart surgery this week, has been advised by doctors not to travel to London for the big event.
The question now remains – who will walk Meghan down the aisle at St. George’s Chapel on Saturday?
The most obvious choice would be Meghan’s mother, Doria Ragland. She is already scheduled to ride with Meghan in the bridal car to the church and it wouldn’t be the first time a mother has walked her daughter down the aisle at a royal wedding. According to
Wikipedia, Queen Victoria walked her youngest daughter, Princess Beatrice, down the aisle for her 1885 wedding to Prince Henry of Battenberg.
Other options include Prince William, Prince Charles – or Meghan may simply decide to walk solo.
