Seinfeld is coming to Netflix after the company landed global streaming rights to the iconic 90’s sitcom.
According to the
Los Angeles Times, the deal was struck between Netflix and Sony Pictures Television giving Netflix a five-year deal to take effect in 2021.
Netflix will offer all 180 episodes of
Seinfeld to its customers both nationally and internationally once the deal goes into effect.
“Seinfeld is the television comedy that all television comedy is measured against, ” Ted Sarandos, Netflix’s chief content officer, said in a statement reported by the
Los Angeles Times. “It is as fresh and funny as ever and will be available to the world in 4K for the first time.”
Hulu currently has domestic streaming rights to
Seinfeld, set to expire in 2021. Amazon currently offers global streaming rights to the sitcom, which will be picked up by Netflix once the deal goes into effect.
