Tom Brokaw Retiring After 55 Years with NBC

After more than half a century working for NBC, Tom Brokaw has announced he is retiring to spend more time with his family.
In a statement to the media, the 80-year-old journalist told fans, “During one of the most complex and consequential eras in American history, a new generation of NBC News journalists, producers and technicians is providing America with timely, insightful and critically important information 24/7. I could not be more proud of them.”
Brokaw, who is the only anchor to have helmed Today, Nightly News and Meet the Press, was awarded the Medal of Freedom by President Obama in 2014 and has won numerous, prestigious journalism awards including The Edward R. Murrow Award for Lifetime Achievement in Broadcasting.
“Brokaw will continue to be active in print journalism, authoring books and articles, and spend time with his wife, Meredith, three daughters and grandchildren,” NBC said in a statement.
