Singer Rihanna took to social media to call an end to gun violence after her cousin was reportedly shot and killed in Barbados just days after the pair spent Christmas Day together.
Rihanna shared a picture of herself, alongside cousin Tavon Kaiseen Alleyne, captioning the poignant post, “RIP cousin…can’t believe it was just last night that I held you in my arms! Never thought that would be the last time I felt the warmth in your body!!! Love you always man! #endgunviolence.”
According to Barbados Today, 21-year-old Tavon was shot multiple times in the St. Michael’s area of Barbados. Police are still searching for the gunman and are asking for anyone with information to come forward.
According to the Daily Mail, police in Barbados issued a report earlier this month revealing gun violence in Barbados has increased on the island since 2016. Of the 28 murders committed so far in 2017, 22 of them were gun-related.
