Walmart has issued an apology after a customer’s picture of a back to school display went viral. In the picture, it appears as though Walmart had placed a back to school banner above a case containing guns. The banner reads “Own the school year like a hero.” It appeared as though the guns were being marketed to students as back to school items. Ismail Kidd Noorazi posted the picture to his Twitter feed. The post quickly went viral with Twitter users demanding an explanation from the retail giant.
Walmart apologized on Twitter saying the sign had been removed. They later tweeted they had been in contact with the manager of the store where the photo had been snapped – reportedly in Evansville, Indiana – who said there was no such sign near the gun display.
