There’s one place many of us head to when we are thinking of ways to change up our homes – Pinterest! Not only is Pinterest great at helping us find new ideas, the social media site is also a great indicator of upcoming trends we should be aware of.
According to the TODAY show, Pinterest is sharing its annual ‘Pinterest 100’ report, which predicts the “biggest lifestyle trends based on how people are searching and saving in the app.”
TODAY reports the Pinterest 100 report is predicting these top four home trends for 2020:

Bringing the Outdoors In – Pinterest predicts this will be a big trend in home decor for 2020 with searches for “bring outdoors inside” up by a whopping 108%. Not only are people wanting to fill their homes and sunrooms with greenery, they are looking to install water features – such as indoor water fountains – inside their residences.

Creating a ‘Home Hub’ – Just what is a Home Hub? According to Pinterest it can be anything from an indoor gym, to a movie theatre, or dedicated coffee shop all within the comfort of your own home. TODAY reports “staying in is the new going out” and we couldn’t be more on-board with creating our own media room – complete with popcorn machine, mini-fridge and recliners – to entertain with close family and friends! Home is also important when it comes to taking care of elderly parents, with TODAY revealing searches for “Granny Pods” were also on the increase on Pinterest.
A Pet Friendly Home – It seems we place a high priority on making our homes just as comfortable for our pets as for humans with Pinterest revealing people searched for things such as doggie patios to outdoor cat playgrounds. TODAY shares Goats and Rabbits may be the breakout stars of 2020 with searches for rabbit hutches up by 191% and searches for goat playhouses increasing by 150%.

Searching for Thrifty Finds – With more focus on the environmental effects of consumerism, TODAY reports thrifting will be a big trend in 2020 – and one we hope continues. According to Pinterest, searches for thrifted home decor saw an astonishing jump of 308% with people looking to keep goods out of the landfill. The trend isn’t limited to home decor either. Thrifting for clothes and accessories will also be hot in 2020.
